Love does not delight in evil
but rejoices with the truth.
It always
protects, always trusts,
always hopes, always perseveres.

I look beyond the empty cross
Forgetting what my life has cost
And wipe away the crimson stains
And dull the nails that still remain

This is ELISSA updating! We haven't updated in a while, but I'm updating now. So yeah.

Last weekend's service at Elevate was amazing. It's topic was GIRLS, and about the pressure us girls go through (and we know it's a lot). When peer pressure comes, what are we supposed to do?

Elevate told us an easy way to deal with peer pressure. There are just five steps.

1. Ask yourself, "What am I pressured to do?"

2. Ask yourself, "Am I excited about this action? Or am I scared? What is my conscience telling me?"

3. Stop and think, "What will I gain from doing this?"

4. Think, "What will I lose from doing this?"

Then it's time for your decision: yes, or no? And whatever you decided, stay FIRM in your decision; let your yes be yes, and no be no.

Elevate also said that the world tells us "you are only beautiful...IF."

...IF you look good

...IF you shop at the right stores

...IF you hangout with the right people

...IF you wear make-up

IF.

Girls can be so influenced by this worldliness, that no one can see who the real person behind all this stuff is. You can't see her true self.

But none of that is true!!! When God looks at us, he sees beauty, because He MADE us beautiful. Period. No if, no make-up, no fakes. Just YOU.

God is so much cooler than the world and their "'IF' Beauty". Besides, the beauty that God sees in you, requires no long hours of flat irons, or tons of money. Isn't that awesome? Isn't that a RELIEF? He made us the way we are to BE, we don't have to change our outside appearances to be BEAUTIFUL. God made us to do his will and to be part of his creation, and His will for you doesn't require anything but YOU, and YOU ALONE.

Bye!

Okay, this is Kristen updating now (Elissa did the first two posts...haha actually I'm not even a part of this xanga thing I just knew the password and decided to do something interesting, maybe)! Well, basically, this site is about Elevate and Breakaway, and so forth. So, for those of you who don't know what Elevate and/or Breakaway is, here's a little info:

Elevate is a junior high ministry created by Willow Creek Community Church. It talks to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders about God and His amazing love, and helps them grow in their spiritual life. Pretty cool, eh? Every weekend, Elevate holds a service for junior high-ers to come to and learn from. Now, Elevate isn't your typical junior high ministry. It is very "up-to-date" with pre-teens and teenagers. This place has a band...a pastor who says "crud" ()...and is translated in a way that we pre-teens and teens can understand. God definitely works in this place.

Breakaway is a camp held once a year (?) by Elevate. It is truly amazing; from the worship, to, basically, all the hard work all the people of the staff of Elevate do. A special thanks to Brandon for being such a great worship leader, and also a special thanks to Wes for playing the parts of Pork Chop/Turbo/Rip Wallis/and that other guy that was extreme, but I forgot his name.. oh, Breakaway is such a blessing from God. It's as if you really never "escape" the presence of Him at that camp; you're always reminded at least every hour that He's actually there by you for every moment of your life.

Now, I must tell you of the feeling that overwhelmed me at that camp. It just took over me... I danced like some disformed monkey, and I didn't care. I cried when they showed up on the screens the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. My eyes were opened even more to God; I'm, now, more willing to be with my Lord, even if it's hard in my "daily schedule" (quotation marks because i really have nothing to do every day). Breakaway has changed me in ways I really don't understand right now.
..awesome.

And Breakaway also fed me very well...it seemed like every hour I was eating. Thank you much, cafeteria people. You did awesome.

Well that seems to be it for now, I don't know what else to put. If you guys want pics, let me...I mean, Elissa, I suppose, since she's the one "running" this site...know.
